Baby Guessing Contest

I saw this on another blog and thought it was a great idea!

I decided to award our blog readers with a chance to win a prize of our choosing for correctly guessing the day, time, weight, length and name of our child.

Here are the rules: You must submit your guess via a blog comment (or an email to one of us) at least 24 hours before I go into labor. Any guess submitted after that will be considered void. A perfect guess is worth 100 points.

The breakdown is as follows:

Correctly guessing the...

date - 20 points

time of day - 20 points

weight - 10 points

length - 10 points

and...
the name - 40 points (you don't get awarded points for the middle or last name...sorry!)

(Partial points will be awarded for how close your guess is to the actual data. For example, if you are one day off you could still receive 18 points for that category.)

Here are a few helpful hints (well, maybe not) the dr. says I'm due Dec. 2, my calculations say Dec. 1...I'm measuring right on schedule, if that means anything...so may the best guesser win!!!

Beware, this is a SUPER long post...but I'm bored at work and it will fill my time nicely. I just thought this was a fitting tag for me right now, so here it goes. (Don't worry, I won't be offended if you don't read it)!

Is this your first pregnancy? Yep

Do you have any other children? No

How many children do you want to have? 4 (two boys and two girls, and if that's not what I get then I'm taking them back)!

Do you like being pregnant? Huh, interesting question, do I like the fact that I'm going to be a mom and that in order to do this I have to be pregnant...yes. Do I like the fact that every milimeter of my body is going through some wacky strange, ugly things...NO!

Have you had any morning sickness? Nope, non at all, I feel truly blessed!

Any mood swings? I say no, but ask Brian and you'll get a different answer

Do you feel you have a stronger sense of smell? Only when I'm really focused

Have you had any swelling in your hands or feet? Yes, this goes into the category of strange and ugly things

Have you had any aches or pains yet? Is this really a question for pregnant people??

What is the one thing you miss about not being pregnant? I'm still pregnant

What one thing makes up for it? I'll just pretend I'm not pregnant anymore to answer this one...um, let's think...I have my freakin' baby...duh

Will you take maternity leave? If you consider being a stay at home mom maternity leave

Favorite Maternity Outfit? I hate fat prego clothes, but I would say my brown sweater from the gap...love it!

Favorite Pastime While Pregnant? Being lazy!

Have you bought anything for baby yet? Of course!

What do you believe are your strengths as a mother? Caring, Loving, Patient, Fun...I don't know

What are you most excited for? To see Brian be a dad, he's so good with kids.

How long have you known dad? Since 3rd grade...how long is that? like 17 years maybe

How many children does he want to have? 4, but he says we're done when we have a girl

What's his favorite pastime? If you know Brian, then this is a dumb question, he's still going to do everything he did before the baby was born.

Has he bought anything for baby yet? Well, I was with him, but he picked out a onesie from target that says daddy's little wingman

Will he take any time off work to help you? Probably a few days, nothing like paternity leave...but that would be cool, he's in the wrong profession, they don't offer it to plumbers!

What do you believe are his strengths as a dad? Patience, Love for everyone, Priesthood, His understanding of the Gospel, He's a little kid for heaven's sake, he's going to fit right in!

His weaknesses? He's a worry wart...takes after his mom

Is he excited? Yes, but he wants me to birth a 1 year old

What do you think he is most excited for? To have a son, he wants to do everything with him like he did with his dad.

Your Pregnancy So Far...:

When did you find out you were pregnant? March 25, right after I came home from Sec. Day Snowmobiling!

Who was with you? I was by myself

Were you trying to get pregnant? Well, yes, but we didn't think it would happen this fast.

If so, for how long? I don't know, one freaking night

Do you have a guess when and where your baby was conceived? If you really want to know it was March 9 in our front room in front of the fire that Brian had just made!! There you have it folks!

How far along were you when you found out? 2 or 3 weeks

What kind of pregnancy test did you take? One that tells you you're pregnant

How many tests did you take? One, and then I took another one right before my dr's appt. I didn't have any symptoms other than missing my period, so I just wanted to make sure!

What was your first reaction? WHAT THE!!

What was the dads first reaction? Are you serious???

Who did you first tell the good news to? Um, this is a little secret, but Leah

What were your parents reactions? They were really excited!

Would you ever consider having an abortion? Never

Who is your doctor? Dr. Thorpe, Dr. Gammett, Dr. Broberg, Dr. Jacob, and Dr. Rees

What hospital will you go to? Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, also known as the birthing capital of Utah

How far along were you at your first doctor appointment? 9 weeks

Have you heard the baby's heartbeat? Uh, yeah, I am 32 weeks remember

Have you had any ultrasounds? Yes, my oh-so-fabulous sister in law Katie does mine!

Will you have any 3D/4D ultrasounds? No, I think they're dumb, but whatever.

Have you had any complications with this pregnancy? Bronchitis, Pneumonia (twice), and a fractured rib, but that's all!

Girl or Boy? Boy (I hope Katie's right)!

You picked out any names yet? Several, we just haven't agreed upon any!

Any food cravings yet? Fruit

Whats been the strangest craving you've had? Pickles and marshmallows together!! They really are good, I promise!

What is something you eat almost everyday? Fruit

Do you have any pregnant friends? No, but my sister in law is pregnant!! YIPEE

Have you felt any movement yet? Yeah, he kicks non stop, and he likes to plant his little feet right into my ribs...AWESOME!

Has dad felt any movement yet? Yes

Do you or dad ever talk to baby? No, that would be really weird. I do sometimes yell at him to get out of my ribs...he doesn't listen.

When did you really first start to show? Day 1??

Have any stretch marks? yeah, my butt, thighs, stomach, boobs, you name a place and I have them!

How well have you been sleeping? Fine, until 2 nights ago...I like to think of this as a good thing...it means I'm in the home stretch...RIGHT???

Any strange dreams? Yeah, I dream about the dead girl on Shutter...Brian likes to call her Mushi Mushi, we can't remember her name!

Have you had any braxton-hicks contractions yet? Yes, as a matter of fact I have, and let me tell you, they aren't always painless...little liars.

Has dad made any midnight runs for you yet? No, I really haven't had that many cravings, he has made midnight ice cream runs for himself if that counts.

Any baby shower plans? Yep, Oct. 25 with my fam and sometime later with Brian's fam (it's still in the planning stages)

Have you registered any where? Baby's R Us, but it's a pretty crappy registry.

What was the first thing bought for baby? clothes (flip flops, swim suit, and a little hoodie)

Are you going to take any birthing classes? what's the point, no birth is the same, so really, I just grunt and bear it!

Are you reading any pregnancy, baby, childcare books? What to Expect When You're Expecting...great book :(

Has anyone said anything unusual to you since you've been pregnant? Um, let me quote my favorite...You're as big as a house...well thanks, really wanted to know that!

What is the best part about being pregnant? Feeling this little guy kick and knowing that I'm going to be a mom in 8 weeks.

What is the worst part? Strange and ugly things

What are you most nervous about? Not being ready for everything

When is your next doctor appointment? Oct. 22

Birth Plans...At home or at a hospital? Definitely in the hospital

Vaginal or C-Section? Vaginal, if everything goes as planned

Natural or Medicated? Give me the MEDS!

Will you be induced? Only if I have to

Who will be in the delivery room with you? Well, here are the people that are invited, it's up to them to be there...Brian, Mom, Mom-in-law, Leah, Katie, and Marianne...wow that's a list...now I just need to let them know that they're invited...

Are you going to have a "doula"? No, but I think with my posse, they'll take care of me!

What couple of things will you be sure to have with you? My hubby...he thinks he can get out of this..so he's numero uno on the list! And whatever else I feel like having at the moment

What do you think will annoy you during delivery? Everything...I told Brian last night that he just needs to keep reminding me to count, that's how I get through any annoying thing!

Are you going to take pictures or videotape? My mom and sister think I need to videotape, I mean I know I'm inviting the whole world to look at my crotch, but really, come on...pictures will have to do.

Will dad cut the cord? Yes, I'm going to make him (he thinks it's gross)

Will Dad pass out? As long as he's positioned by my head, no

What is your opinion on circumcision? Most definitely...it's the only pain boys will ever have to suffer down there, so suffer away I say!

Will any relatives come in from out of town? My bro and sister in law for the blessing, other than that every else lives here.

Are you scared? No, just anxious and excited!

What are you most scared about? Did you read my answer to the last question...I'm not scared

When the baby is here:
What is baby's coming home outfit? A cute little outfit...I can't do it justice by just explaining it, you'll just have to wait for pictures.

Will you come home as soon as you can? No, I plan on staying in the hospital paying an enormous amount of money for the gourmet food that they're feeding me!

What is the nursery's theme? Jungle

What is your favorite thing in the nursery? The lamp, or the crib, or the cute little clothes that are all over the floor in there piles

Will you breastfeed or formula feed? I'll give the good ole'boob a try

Will you co-sleep? That's a big FAT negative, my sleep is precious to me and I am a light sleeper, I can't even sleep if I can hear one of the dogs breathing.

Will you cloth diaper? No, I'm all for filling up the landfills

What can't you wait for most? Having my little baby boy and watching him grow!

That took my about an hour to do...now I just need to find 4 more of those and my day will be over!
